Corrugated sidewall belt conveyor has the advantages of simple structure, reliable in operation, which is not only compact in structure, small in occupation, but also can achieve vertical lifting, so it is an ideal equipment for large transmission angle, and is widely used in metallurgy, building materials, chemical industry, grain, coal, electric power and other sectors.
The structural characteristic of sidewall belt conveyor is to replace the general conveyor belt with the sidewall belt, which of the working principle and structure are similar to the belt conveyor. Therefore, the components such as drive device, tension device, intermediate stand, intermediate branch leg, tail stock, transmission drum, bend pulley, supporting roller, dump hopper, empty section sweeper, protection device, etc., all can be used with the corresponding parts of the belt conveyor.

The sidewall belt consists of three parts: base band, guard band and partition. The appearance of the base belt is the same as that of the ordinary conveyor belt, but it has greater transverse stiffness. The reason why guard band is made into wave shape is to make the conveyor belt can bypass the roller and convex and concave arc section, to meet the requirements of the conveyor line. A partition is arranged according to a certain spacing on the base band between the two guard bands. According to its different shapes, the partition can be divided into T type, C type and TC type.
The function of the pinch roller and the belt rollers is the same, which are pressed in the empty side of guard band working face and change the running direction of guard band. They are arranged in the haul back branch of the convex arc and the bearing branch of the concave arc of the corrugated sidewall belt conveyor. Pinch roller is the most commonly used form, which is consists of compound rim, shaft, bearing pedestal. The big rim is pressed on the empty edge of the belt, and the small rim is pressed gently on both edges. The belt roll set is arranged by a number of cantilever rollers according to a large, common radius of curvature. When the belt velocity is large, it can effectively overcome the backward "material scattering" phenomenon when the material passes through the concave arc. But the belt roller produces larger inertia force and torque, easy to make the material scatter in the convex arc.
The non-working face of the guard band adopts the same empty section sweeper as the general belt conveyor, while the cleaning of the working face uses the vibration sweeper, which can be divided into two categories: dynamic sweeper and non-dynamic sweeper. The motor of dynamic sweeper drives the rotating roller through the belt pulley, and make the roller to flap against the non-working face of the guard band to shake down the material adhering to it. The non-dynamic sweeper drives the rotating roller with an edge through the guard band to make the guard band oscillate up and down.
Because the granular cotton contains a certain number of slag balls, the hardness of these slag balls is very high, and makes the fixed lifting bucket bolts and drive annular chain wear quickly. After the bolt is worn off, the lifting bucket drops the bottom of the shell of the elevator, thus the failure occurs. And the guard band of the corrugated sidewall belt conveyor is made of rubber with little wear. Because of the collision between the chain and slide rail of the belt elevator, it has produced a lot of noise and do harm to environmental protection, and the bucket elevator take some measures to prevent the noise, so that the equipment cost increases. It is visible that although the bucket elevator has the same characteristics of compact in structure and large lifting height, but in the production of granular cotton, compared with the sidewall belt conveyor, there are many defects.Therefore, it is suggested to use the sidewall belt conveyor in practical application.
