The Driving System Modification of the Portable Belt Conveyor

The portable belt conveyor is very important equipment to the tobacco industry, in order to meet the new technical process requirements, which dealt with the problem of cigarette raw material processing, there are two bale openers to achieve the unpacking work integrate with the portable belt conveyor and the moving rail conveyor. As the second process equipment, the portable belt conveyor plays a great role in the production process, while its comprehensive service performance can directly influence the production order. However, as the increasing durable years, there are several worn parts to the portable belt conveyor, which result in the poor performance of the equipment. What’s more, when the crucial component is damaged, the production task cannot be performed. For example, in the long-term use of the portable belt conveyor, the walking wheel will be severely worn, which frequent skidding will occur.

To solve out the skidding problem of the portable belt conveyor, and not disturbing the production management system, to cause the increasing labour intensity of the operator and maintenance man, the following modifications should be taken into account. During the actual operation of the portable belt conveyor, from the way transmission system works, it is driven by the front wheel when there is no load to run, and it is driven by the rear wheel at the time of loading. Both the wheel and the ground track are the smooth steel construction, so the friction coefficient between the two contact parts is small, while after long-term use, the surface roughness is reduced. In that way, the portable belt conveyor can be operated in a normal way when no load to feed, but the skidding phenomenon will appear when loading 200kg materials, because of the less friction coefficient between the wheel and the ground track. At the meantime, one A1900 triangle conveyor belt can be installed to connect to the main & secondary drive shafts, in order to transmit power. When using the four walking wheels’ portable belt conveyor, the slow running or the skidding phenomenon is removed, because of the increasing driving torque. In addition, the working efficiency of the bale opener is also improved.
After the driving system modification to the portable belt conveyor, the slow running and skidding phenomenon is completely eliminated when using the equipment, and the malfunction in the process of production is greatly reduced caused by the skidding phenomenon, not only the bale opener can work efficiently, but also the operator and the maintenance man labour intensity is reduced, which guarantee the production order and performance.
