The sediment is cleaned about once every half month, which brings some workload to the maintenance personnel. The reasons for the analysis of the equipment are as follows.
The actual water content of the feed does not match the information provided in the technical contract; if the water content is too high, the material will become wet and sticky, making it easier to adsorb to the equipment. Because in the dump truck from time to tome a lot of falling objects, in both the top and bottom of the hopper outlet installed spray dust suppression agent, to prevent a lot of dust and protect the working environment, when the conveyor belt system is running, spray dust control unit will spray a large amount of water mist, this will increase the material's surface water and increase the adsorption material.
Transverse stiffeners are set on the chain plate, so that the surface of the chain plate protrudes, which affects the smoothness of the surface and increases the possibility of material adsorption. For viscous materials, it is usually necessary to install cleaning equipment at the bottom of the apron feeders to collect falling material. However, the apron feeders used in this project was not equipped with a cleaning device, so automatic collection of viscous materials was not possible.
2. Solutions
(1) raise the entire apron feeders, adding a cleaning chain in the bottom, cut part in place of feeder protection (chute), then the feeder shielding materials by the shape of the cross section cut out of the same by mouth, then by 959 mm vertical lift feeder, the feeder at the bottom of the leg of the 959 m high leg, Then bolted to the original leg and on the basis of the conveyor at the top of the groove cut directly to the outlet of feeder, connected by special non-standard section replacement, the height is about 1310 mm, finally connect the scraper conveyor to the bottom of the plate type feeder, used as a blank to rinse, this solution can completely solve the problem of the heavy duty apron feeders size, However, the partial storage capacity of hopper will be lost, the conversion workload of related equipment will be large, the conversion cycle will be long and the cost will be high, and the port production and operation will be affected. This is shown in Figure 2 below.

(2) Roll brush type cleaner is added in the head of apron feeders. Under the funnel is perpendicular to the head of the feeder to produce a square hole in each side, the roller brush cleaner through the square hole, and then along the direction of drum should be fixed to the head funnel, roller brush cleaner with automatic drive unit, can be used with feeder, when feeding during, roller brush will rotate to the opposite direction to clean. And the reconstruction cost is very low, workers are willing to accept, after a period of time after the renovation, the roller brush cleaning effect is very good, but due to the soft touch and poor wear resistance of the brush, the roller feeder immediately wear out the brush line after apron feeders operation, so the reliability of the scheme is relatively poor.
(3) Improve the smoothness of the bearing surface of the chain plate. The adhesion point of apron feeders is mainly located at the root of the lateral stiffeners of the chain plate, so if a smooth transition between the stiffeners and the surface of the chain plate is attempted, the adhesion of the material may be reduced.
Therefore, a 36mm wide steel bar is made from 10mm thick steel plate, the length of which is the same as that of the chain plate stiffeners. The steel bar is set at 30 degrees, and a lot of repair work is done to fill the Angle between the stiffeners and the surface of the chain plate by welding the welded inclination Angle to the chain plate stiffeners, but the chain plate does not have to be removed during refitting.
So basically does not affect the terminal production and operation. Therefore, the workers agreed to convert according to the plan, and during the operation period after deformation, the phenomenon of gluing on the chain plate was significantly reduced, basically meeting the use requirements, as shown in Figure 3.

3 summary
Above all, when using apron feeders transportation viscous material, can take these measures to avoid material of viscous material, the use of special shape of the chain plate reinforcement, in order to smoothly transfer chain plate surface, if the whereabouts of the material is very small, and will have little impact on the chain plate, can consider to remove stiffener, this can save the initial investment of the project, and more effective. A cleaning chain is added to the bottom of apron feeders. The initial investment of this method project has been greatly increased, but reliable and leak-free feeding can be achieved. It is hoped that the above method can achieve good results and can be used as an example for similar problems of heavy duty apron feeders.
